The company changed its name several times before finally settling on TAG Heuer in 1985. TAG Heuer has left its mark on the history of Swiss watchmaking, starting with the 1887 oscillating pinion up to the 2007 Link Calibre S. TAG Heuer is one of the most respected and well known makers of luxury watches. It has been at the forefront of watchmakers since the mid 1800's. The company is a division of LVMH a luxury goods company. TAG Heuer is a Swiss Luxury watchmaker of sports watches and chronographs founded in 1860 by Edouard Heuer.

Edouard Heuer patented the first chronograph in 1882 and his first wristwatch in 1914. In 1916 Heuer introduced the micrograph; it was the first stopwatch to have accuracy to the 1/100th of a second. In 1932 Heuer created the Autavia, a dashboard timer to be used in automobiles and aviation aircraft. He later introduced chronographs for pilots and the triple chronograph. In 1950 Heuer created a watch for Abercrombie and Fitch, the Seafarer which could track the moon and the Autograph.

By 1958 Heuer created the eight day clock, the 12 hour stop watch, the split second timer, and the 60 minute stopwatch; these were all discontinued in the 1980's. By the 1960's Heuer starting concentrating on making watches and chronographs for the racing set, the race car drivers. By 1962 he had developed the first switch watch to make it into space; it was worn by an astronaut into space. It was used as a backup timer for the shuttle.

By 1969 the first automatic chronograph was created, the Autavia, Carrera and the Monaco. By 1975 Huere had created a chronosplit digital chronograph with Led and LCD display. The chronograph was powered by the Lemania 5100 movement. By the time 1985 rolled around the company came into being, the Techniques d'avant Garde. Most of the designer watches were created for sports.

In 1999 LVMH acquired Heuer watches and now they are the parent company for TAG Heuer watches. TAG watches has slowly become the watch for every sport and the watch of celebrities. The likes of Tiger Woods, Brad Pitt, Jeff Gordon, Juan Pablo Montoya, and Maria Sharapova just to name a few have worn TAG Heuer watches.

In 2006 and 2007 TAG watches won the IF product design award. TAG launched a limited edition Abu Dhabi watch for racing fans in 2009. The caliber S movement offers precision and comfort it also records times for laps on the racing track. TAG Heuer has never failed to impress in 2009 it introduced the Abu Dabi boutique, and a women's jewelry collection. TAG Heuer watches have been seen all around the world and in feature films.
